Our Team and Governance

Our Team

Malbak is led by a strong team of First Nations leaders, workers, and families connected to Marlkawo and the West Arnhem region.

Our Board of Directors are all proud members of the Djandjomerr family, carrying deep cultural knowledge, law, and responsibility for Country.

We also employ and support many other families across the region—working together in tourism, training, and community support.

From Elders to young people, everyone has a role to play in building Malbak’s future.

We are one team, walking together, strong in culture.

Our Governance

Malbak Aboriginal Corporation is governed by a Board of Directors made up of Djandjomerr family members, who hold cultural responsibility and provide leadership for the organisation.

The Board meets quarterly for formal governance meetings to set direction, review progress, and make key decisions.

All major decisions—such as funding, partnerships, and project approvals—must be approved by the Board before action is taken. This ensures Malbak stays true to its purpose, culture, and community priorities.

The wider Malbak team—staff, consultants, and project partners—meets monthly to manage daily operations, deliver programs, and keep the organisation strong and running smoothly.

Our governance model keeps Malbak accountable, culturally guided, and community-driven.
